It was a great weekend. Thank you so much to all of you for coming. We are in complete awe at how sweet everyone was. It is one thing to chat on the phone or via email but to meet in person just takes it to another level. Thank you so much.
Carla and her crew sent us over the most amazing, I mean amazing bouquet of flowers. The scent filled the room. I'm pretty much speechless about these. And all my lovelies at MJC and Anne got David and me the most beautiful painting in the planet. Just you wait.
There's a lot more pics to share but I need to get the boys in bed. So I'll save it for later. I wanted to take a minute to say thank you for all your support and kind words and for just being so wonderful. Thank you. You guys have totally made a dream of mine come to life.
And lastly for those of you who could not make it, be patient. We are trying to bring some good stuff to everyone soon. Very soon. It's just a matter of a few more photos and a click of a button, so think before you hit "buy it now". It's all good.
and I stole this from the One Lucky Guitar website. I just had to share. They make us seem so cool. And to think they know us in real life, and we are, for real, not this cool. Gosh, gotta love them guys..and gals.
Sometimes when we think back on our relationship with Matilda Jane Clothing Co., we feel like we got to see The Rollin' Stones at the Marquee Club in 1962. Because now, quite frankly, the company is selling out stadiums worldwide. The difference is, Matilda Jane's still got it!
Back in 2004, when we first met MJCC owner and designer Denise
DeMarchis, this little clothing line was something she did in her spare
time, in a spare room, and for a few dozen customers. But you could
tell that something very special was going on. We created Denise's
identity suite, including business cards and hangtags-work that took on
a life of its own, eventually being featured in the prestigious design
annuals from Print and HOW magazines, and in three
coffee-table book collections of business identities from around the
world (and effectively cementing OLG's reputation along the way). Since
then, Matilda Jane has exploded-with nearly 100 "trunk keepers" across
the country, 14 local employees and a new 6,000 square foot design
facility and warehouse (right around the corner from us in
"Bricktown"). We've put together the identities for three more product
lines for MJCC, as well as four brochures, event collateral, promo
pieces and even t-shirt design. For the 2009 catalog, Nate Utesch
introduced original illustration to the mix, and the layout took MJCC
to an even higher level-and the illustrations will even serve as a
fabric pattern for future clothing.
Anyway, you can experience it all for yourself this weekend, when Matilda Jane Clothing Co. hosts its first-ever open house and art fair, at 435 East Brackenridge in downtown Fort Wayne. Doors are open on Saturday, June 27th, from 10AM-5PM, and Sunday, June 28th, from 10AM-2PM. People are flying in from around the country to be a part of this sale.
There is so much going on. My gosh. It has been so fun getting ready. Well, that and very sweaty. Super hot and the AC worked for about 2 days and then..nothing...but sweat. They've been working on it all day. And here is what we've been doing.
So much good stuff. We picked up Lisa, Brittney, Tiffany and Shawn today. Talk about gorgeous. Those 2 girls are amazing. Michelle is so excited to take their pics this weekend. And Lisa is a sweetheart and Shawn, he's pretty funny with a good sense of humor. Love that.
Just about my entire family is here. And Joe is over the moon. Tomorrow night is gonna be so great meeting all you guys. We have a band, great drink and lots of food. Okay, it is more less snacky things, or whatever fancy word Sara uses..but they are good...do you have a clue how much I love bruschetta? Gosh, I hope she remembered that one. That and spinach dip. Pure love.
I'll come up with soomething good for Plymouth. Okay, no pre-party but we'll think of something...you guys are not left out cuz this will be my 15 year anniversary at that show!!
Okay, so David had to spend his entire Fathers Day working on the floor of the workshop, fixing shelves and just a bunch of pure fun at 435. There is so much going on trying to get ready for you folk. MY email is peaking at just over 300. With that said, if you need something crucial your best bet is to call the office. Plus, they always know more than I.
David says he worried that you guys will not like 435 cuz it's old. I think you will love it, I do. It is very raw but then it is a warehouse. He thinks you are expecting some grand showroom. And we are so not that. We are all about function.
Me, I think it is a fantastic place...and I know you will too....it is the company you keep that makes it grand.
Lastly and IMPORTANT, if you are attending please see this Download 435 Art Fair it has lots of information and a form you will need if you are shopping for a friend.
And oh, my is Becky beautiful or what? I love that photo...love it.
So here is the deal.....very few, very few correct answers. I repeat very few. Actually one, if I am correct. And that would be that of Ms.Happy Bowls with 60 layers (making it 120 if you x2 it) We had quite a few other close ones that I tossed into a hat. Okay, well a bowl but there were so few it was easiest this way. I like easy.
So how about Ms. Happy Bowls, Nt Husband, and Susan Adamczyk all shoot Sara and email at email@example.com with your size and address.
Wow, talk about fathers day. let's hope you are really spoiling those men cuz they all entered the contest for you guys. Incredible.
I'm off to watch a movie with Joe and sew some more buttons. Oh, and one more thing, all you Plymouth folk, no worries. I pulled a bunch of stuff aside so you would have a great selection too. Plus, we have so much stuff, we actually had to start un- hanging some of it because our racks were so full. And my new tank is so super cute thanks to some Paperlili inspiration....LOL You'll see,
I'll announce the winners tomorrow. I've been working and haven't had 2 seconds to read the comments....sorry! Until then enjoy some pics of today's event at Matilda Jane.
Wanna know why he is so happy? Well, he got to eat lunch with 3 hot chicks! Oh and one Beast!
The gorgeously pregnant Sara. We all owe her a huge applause for putting the party together for Friday night! Without her, there's be no party!! Okay. well, not as nice! Thank you Sara!
Proof of hard work. Don't worry, Becky washed her hands before she packed your order!!
Talk to you tomorrow!
We now have a Good Girl Chart and a Good Boy Chart. If the crew gets all there listed job done they get a star. You get 4 stars ( yes, I was nice and gave a grace day) we're taking you to lunch Monday. If you get 3, we'll bring you back desert but you have to punch out while eating it. Oh, when I say you, I mean the MJC crew. You'd be surprised how many calls we'll get at the office if I hadn't clarified that!
Now you see why they tried to lock me out. When I'm on a mission, I'm on a mission. You can almost see it in Joe's face. Ya, he wants a star in a bad way but is still trying to understand you have to really work for it! Yes, I cut him some slack.
Gabe? Well, the first thing he said when he came into my room this morning was, "Are we going to the worskshop? Can I have a star cookie?" See I am serious about the stars. Kayla even ran photocopies of a dot to dot star so Joe could practice drawing them. He's the chart star giver.
And those are a few of my new favorite things. You can get yourself quite a few of these, like 4 or 3 or 5 if you can guess the question below. I will take all the right answers and then randomly pick the 3 winners.
Sam has been the cutting queen, slippers, apron, sparkly headband and all. She left this pile of fabric on the table today when she left. Ya, someday she'll learn to clean her mess before she leaves. Hopefully this will be learned before 435!
Can you tell me how many layers are in this roll? I am not asking how many times it is rolled up, or the sum of all the rolls. I am asking how many layers are in the first pile sitting on the cutting table. Okay, look between the red lines ( great photoshop skills huh?) and that is the pile of layers you need to count.
Okay Superstars, start counting. You've got till Thursday. Oh, only one guess per person.
Seriously the girls locked me out of the packing room today. I simply slid a note under the door stating they might want to remember that I am the Boss and that they could have had at least a few manners to give Sam a key. I won't tell you what their response was.
It is full swing Art Fair mode. If you know me, which most of you may wish you did not..I get super freaky about what needs to be done. And then the lists start appearing. It usually starts as a weekly goal, then a daily, then an half day...ya then down to the hour.
Many get irritated cuz they think I wait till the last minute to get stuff done ( which, ya I did that too) usually it is just I am thinking. Thinking about lists... so okay, boring blog but for real...all I can do is think of what has to happen by Friday. And there is a ton. Plus we keep running out of hangers. You have no clue how many hangers we have gone through. WOW.
This was a great entry for the 435 contest, okay...now I am super embarassed. I have been saving this on my desk for weeks and I cannot find the dang note. man....sorry. But I loved it and I mostly love it cuz Gabe asks me every night if I can read the book where the monkey gets in trouble. He then continues to ask 20 more times, "does he get in trouble?" Yes, Gabe loves trouble. He is trouble.
On a random note, I have to show you my lights. I bought these well before we had Joe. And we finally got to hang them. Yes, I am quite proud and if you hate them, just pretend.
Now that I feel like a dork, I will end this saying, one, I am so sorry I cannot find that Curious Geroge note, I look at it every night. It has had water spilled on it, popsicles dripped over...and I have kept it cuz I love it but poor thing has gone missing. Two, a bit after being locked out, I realized the lock was on my side (it was a push lock) and pretty much they were locked in, not vice versa. Three, I got a good contest coming up tomorrow. Ha, well,i want to, I just have to think of one that'll be real hard.. and no it won't be the first person to respond. Promise. Oh and lastly yes, Gabe got his shoes off after throwing a 10 minute fit.
