My girls are packing machines. Me, well, not so much. I do try but I cannot stay focused. Poor Diane, well, poor anyone who has to pack the shows I sort. See we have a little system at the workshop. We have gals who pull the shows off the master slip, some who sort into the orders and then the gals who pack in the pretty tissue. Me, I never pack. I screw it all up. So if you got a screwed up order, I am sure I packed it. I just can't stay focused for more that 2 minutes. I have no idea how those girls do it. They rock and I love them to death.
I have spent pretty much the entire day in bed. I am still sick and now just crossing my fingers for Mono. Heck, if I am gonna be sick I mise well lose some weight. And rumor has it Mono does the trick?
I have been lying here staring at Kayla all weekend. Her pics are so dang gorgeous. I can't show you till I show her. But seeing Joe is in this one I just had too. I threw him in there cuz I thought it was the perfect QUIRKY FAMILY pic. They are all such opposites.
So I picked up Joe from Jackson's house today (Jenni's son) and she showed me some of the cutest videos of the 3 boys rocking it out to Michael Jackson. OMG so cute. I am just so happy Joe has found a few neighborhood friends his age. Growing up in my neighborhood swarmed with kids. It was the best place to grow up and they are still some of my greatest friends. I so hope for Joe to have the same.
My mind is blank and I'm digging for interesting content but so out of luck. And with that I will say goodnight. Thanks for staying tuned through the boring days of my life. I promise soon something exciting will happen. Like maybe Laker hockey? or hmmm...something. David just won Puzzle Master on his iPhone, oops I am wrong. He says "it is UnBlock Me and I was DECLARED Puzzle Master". Ohh, those little details I miss.
So I am 40 minutes behind...but hey, it's close right. I spent the last 30 of them debating on what pics to use.I took some super sweet pics of Joe today and some super GORGEOUS one of Kayla. David chirped in and said "you need to use those cute girls in your email, no one wants to see Joe and you have to show Kayla her pics first." So for once in David's life I am gonna let him be right.
Oh? You want to know if Sara emailed me the list yet? She sure did right on time at 10:58pm...good thing I am not an early bird huh? Ha, love ya Sara. And you'll love her more to know she picked 45. She had so much fun and a whole lot less time now that she found a zillion more blogs to stalk.
Okay, so I had to squeeze Joe in somehow. To all those listed above we will be emailing you Monday to give you exact details. Sam has already cut the dresses. I have no clue what they look like. I told her just cut it up. That girl never fails so it'll be good.
Ya, so I took pics of Kayla and Romeo (her pup) today. I am so dang excited about them. That girl is GORGEOUS. And add Joe into the mix and they make for a real quirky trio. I tried to do some of Gabe too. He insisted he could only get his picture taken on Saturdays. Ha, imagine his surprise when I told him it was Saturday. His story changed pretty quickly. I just want to show you guys his chubby, gooey fluff that hangs over his little underpants. He has the softest belly ever.
Oh and tonite Joe spent the night at a friends, so (don't tell) but I let Gabe sleep in Joe's room.See I am nice and still no pics from the Beast. Next time I will just have to pull rank.
Well, David just fell asleep so I am off to try to master a few Lightroom and Photoshop tricks. And do know, I am doing all this just for you and your viewing pleasure. Okay, and a little bit for me and my journey to become a...ummm, sports photographer? That'd be cool, huh?
Lastly seeing David is asleep sorry for all the typos.
WARNING: I so cannot get this song out of my head
"Wheels go round and round, you're on my mind"...blah blah blah.. This is stuck in my head. So ya missed me? Just pretend a little bit, k. I went on a little road trip with my friend Jenni. It was so great, we shot lots of great pics, met great folk and fell out of love with my 50mm. Interesting, huh? Or boring?
But you know what they say "Two strangers learn to fall in love again, I get the joy of rediscovering you." And that 70-200mm is my new love. I had no idea I could use it for something other than hockey. Oh, this is gonna be a good thing.
I know you are all dying to know the names of the photogs we picked. Sara says she'll have a list ready for us tomorrow. We got hundreds of entries and I told her, (yes, I am so demanding) she had to look at each and every blog/website. And of course that is taking quite some time then she has to cross reference with Sam on sizing...okay, lost ya huh? Well, they have a system and soon we will all know the results.
and last but not least "We all need the clowns to make us smile". And that would be Jenni doing some wine tasting while we wait for the rain to clear. And it was totally worth the wait. One, I hate wine. Wait, I take that back, I do like Boone's Farm. I simply asked the nice man for something that tasted like that or rum n' coke and something that I can drink a lot of fast, I am certainly not a sipper. And guess what? Falling right in line with my personality, I loved the cheapest bottle!! Perfection.
Ahh...so worth the wait huh? Not sure if this pic beckons Sweet Home Alabama or The Notebook. One thing for sure, it is PURE LOVE.
Forever yours faithfully, xoxo- Denise (I'm such a dork)
PS if you get a second say hi to Jenni. She thinks she only has 3 readers. I'd like to prover her wrong.
K all you gals, you must submit your request to enter by tonite at Midnight. Sara is overwhelmed with all the entries right now. My gosh. She keeps emailing me saying "How am I supposed to pick 25-30 out of hundreds." I tell her keep it simple and think of Sam. Cuz Sam has to cut the dresses and it is much easier to cut even numbers than it is 23 size 4's, 3 size 6's, 1 size 2 and 5 size 8's.... So in short the finalists will be random.
Oh, and if you are clueless to what I am talking about see post below!! Now I need to find some shoes besides flip flops or tennis shoes to wear. I'm not looking too good. October is a pretty hard shoe month for me. I look like a dork in flats and feel like I have to dress up in heels. And tennis shoes are way too casual sometimes and flip flops make me look like I need to go buy some shoes. Oh, the stress of it all. I think I have a headache.
I am not even really sure how it all happened. First it was "Oh, my gosh, I need to get up the nerve to call Shannon Stewart to see if she'll shoot my clothes." Once those nerves were calmed an entire new set of "what happens if she thinks my clothes suck" nerves set it. From that it went to, how the heck does someone get that super fuzzy background to where on earth are these most beautiful kids coming from and how the heck does one take pictures like that. It was then I was introduced to this entire world of photography. And my what a beautiful world it is.
I am forever in awe of the talent that I have came in contact with through Matilda Jane. Had I not started this clothing line I would have never met Shannon, Michelle, Betsy, Amanda, Jennie, Mika Beth, Gina and a zillion others. It is a wonderful world.
The other day as I was walking around the park all by lonesome, I thought of you. I thought of how sometimes I make a dress and I am not really sure how much I love it. Then one of you guys submits a photo and it all makes sense. It really is the girl that makes Matilda Jane sparkle. It really is.
And so I figured it was about time I paid a special thank you to you gals for sending me so many great shots and for supporting Matilda Jane. You have introduced us to some of your favorite clients who have in turn become some of ours. Thank you.
And here is our very own Photo Love contests for photographers only. We are gonna challenge 25-30 of you to show your own personality and style. It always amazes me how photographers use pretty much the same equipment but the image is so different. It is in the eye of the beholder.
Sam will be making 25-30 of the same exact dress and we want you to put your spin on it. All you need to do is email Sara at email@example.com your name, your website (you must have website to participate or a photography blog (not personal)), your address and the size of dress you would like. Sara will randomly pick 25-30 of you to receive the dress. All entries must be submitted by Sunday, October 4 to be considered. If you have been chosen to participate we will let you know no later than October 9.
We will then mail you out a dress and you will have a few weeks to shoot it and send us back your submission. We will post our top 10-15 on the site for the public to vote for the top 5. Matilda Jane will pick the top 3. The winner will receive an all expense paid trip for 2 to the January Dress Rehearsal (not redeemable for cash value) and be one of the first to view the Spring 2010 line. The 2 runner ups will each receive a $300 dollar MJC gift card.
So what do you think? I am pretty excited about this one. One, I can't wait to see what Sam makes, I left it in her hands. Two, I cannot wait to see you do your magic.
Not only do I have a slew of adorable sweet faces to show you, I also have a nice list of wonderful readers who won the Where's Waldo contest. Oh, and third? We'll get to that in a minute.
Thank you guys so much for all the great shots. I am so behind on life that my emails are a bit neglected. Sorry for that, but it's emails or kids and you know the pecking order, right?
What was wrong with the picture, right? Well, it was a simple pants on backward accident. But actually turned out a blessing cuz how else you gonna see those cute button tabs? But it is amazing if you really look what one will see. Ya, and that is why there are not pics of me. Ha.
and honorable mention goes to Patrick for his comment "What is wrong... the fact that none of these outfits were in the box that arrived today which means my wife will want to order more." That sir, is pretty dang funny.
So shoot your email to Sam at firstname.lastname@example.org and she'll take care of prize patrol. She'll need your address and size.
And now for a third bit of fun, which I am stoked about. All details will be on the blog tomorrow evening. It has a bit to do with photography, a trip to our Spring 2010 Dress Rehearsal and a few other great gifts. It also has a few requirements like you must have a photography website to enter. This is a contest to thank all the great photographers who send me the most beautiful shots and support Matilda Jane to the core. Thank you and this contest if for you. And it is gonna be a fun one. Stay tuned till tomorrow.
I need to get it in an organized manner cuz we all know how my head works...
